Services for Young People from 11 to 24 years old

At Norwich Practices Health Centre, we can offer you the following confidential services as a registered patient:

  • You can attend with a friend or relative and we won’t tell your parent/guardian about your visit if you are able to understand, make informed decisions and your Doctor or Nurse has no concerns about your safety
  • We provide self-test kits for Chlamydia
  • Free pregnancy tests for the under 25’s
  • You can choose to see a male or female Doctor or Nurse
  • Referral to specialist services such as Mental Health and the Family Planning Clinic
  • Free condoms – and a collection point for the C-Card Scheme
  • Free contraception prescriptions and emergency contraception
  • Fully Trained Nurses to offer support on giving up smoking, sexual health, healthy eating and weight management, alcohol, drugs and mental health

  • MAP (Mancroft Advice Project) – The Risebrow Centre, Chantry Road, Norwich NR2 1RF. Telephone on 01603 766 994. 13:30-17:00 drop in sessions.  This organisation provides access to all kinds of help from sexual health to finding a job with the help of friendly, trained counsellors. Aimed at 11-25 year olds.
  • Matthew Project – Telephone 01603 774 355 or 0800 970 4866 (free from Landlines). Offering help and support with drugs and alcohol. Aimed at under 18 year olds.
  • Norwich Rape Crisis – Call 01603 667 687 – Telephone the helpline on Tuesdays 19:00-21:00 and Fridays 12:00-14:00. All calls on answerphone are returned within 48 hours.

C-Card Scheme

Norwich Practices Health Centre is part of the C-Card Scheme and is a issue point for ordered condoms.

The Your C-Card Scheme gives free condoms and lube to young people in Norfolk and Waveney aged 13-24 You can access the service whether you’re male or female no matter what your sexual orientation is, or whether you’re having sex, thinking about having sex, or if you’re just curious.

How do I get C-Card condoms?

Sign up at any C-Card registration point.

You will discuss some sexual health issues with a C-Card Worker in private. You give your date of birth and part of your postcode, (We will never contact you using this information) we give you a C-Card and selection pack of condoms. Whenever you want condoms, visit any C-Card Issue Point or Registration Point. Show your C-Card and indicate which types of condoms and lube you want, by name, colour or number. You can choose a mixture of 12 items.

Your C-Card is marked every time you use it. You can use your card 6 times if 16 or over, 3 times if aged 13 to 15. After this, return to any C-Card registration point for a chat and to get your card renewed. When you visit the C-Card Point, be sure to check out if they offer any other sexual health services.

12 condoms / lube of your choice are given out in each C-Card pack, along with information about the C-Card scheme, and instructions on how to use a condom effectively.

Ask for the condoms you want by the name, number or colour.

Should you need dams or female condoms, please ask for them at your C-Card point as they may have them available.

Under 13?

If you’re under 13 you can’t register with the C-Card scheme. But If you need help and advice around sexual health you can still visit your local GP surgery or Contraceptive and Sexual Health Clinic (CaSH).
